Hersha Parady, que dio vida a uno de los más populares personajes de la icónica serie "La familia Ingalls" ("Little House on the Prairie"), murió a causa de un tumor cerebral. Tenía 78 años de edad.

Hersha encarnó en "La familia Ingalls" a la profesora Alice Garvey, cuyo trágico y heroico final fue uno de los episodios más vistos de toda la serie.

La amiga de la familia Ingalls (en la TV) falleció en Norfolk, Virginia, tras ser operada el mes pasado de un meningioma cerebral, informó su hijo Jonathan Peverall.

Para costear los gastos médicos de la enfermedad, la familia había creado una página de GoFundMe.

Betty Sandhoff, su nombre real, hizo su primera aparición en la serie creada por Michael Landon en un episodio de la tercera temporada en 1976 como Eliza Ingalls, la cuñada del Charles Ingalls. 

En la cuarta temporada apareció como la profesora Alice Garvey, papel que interpretó hasta la sexta entrega y que la convirtió en un ícono televisivo de varias generaciones.

Hersha Parady, who starred as schoolteacher Alice Garvey on the hit NBC show “Little House on the Prairie,” died Wednesday at the age of 78. Parady passed away at the Norfolk, Virginia, home of her son, Jonathan Peverall, after suffering from a brain tumor that was revealed in July, according to The Hollywood Reporter. In an effort to help cover expenses of his mother’s hospital bills, Peverall set up a GoFundMe page at that time, raising $20,482. “Hersha, who has always been an active and outgoing woman, is battling a tough medical condition – a brain tumor known as meningioma,” wrote Peverall. “This illness has robbed her of her strength, her memory, and sadly, her vibrant personality. She has become largely bedridden, and it is very difficult to see my Mom, who was once full of life and energy, now struggling with basic daily activities.” Peverall revealed that he and his family managed to move his declining mother to his family’s home in Virginia and sought the best care possible. Hersha Parady hizo de la profesora Alice Garvey en la serie “Little House on the Prairie".


"Little House on the Prairie", emitida por la cadena NBC entre 1974 y 1983, narraba la vida de una familia en el Medio Oeste de Estados Unidos durante el siglo XIX.

Se basó en la saga de libros homónima de Laura Ingalls Wilder y se convirtió en serie televisiva después del éxito que obtuvo la película de televisión del mismo nombre, filmada meses antes, en 1973.

Hersha Parady nació el 25 de mayo de 1945 en Berea, Ohio, pero de joven se mudó a Los Ángeles, donde uno de sus primeros roles destacados fue junto a Jon Voight en una producción itinerante de "Un tranvía llamado deseo".

Parady inició su carrera en televisión con apariciones especiales en "Mannix, Bearcats!" y "The Waltons", encontrando la fama en "La familia Ingalls".
