Los partidos políticos no pueden seguir siendo refugio ni trampolines de narcotraficantes, viciosos ni elementos pervertidos por la corrupción que se anidan en ellos para escalar posiciones del poder público.
Es obvio que los toleran, los apañan y hasta los encumbran porque amasan y reparten mucho dinero para ganar postulaciones y elecciones a puestos congresionales y municipales o para agenciarse cargos importantes en el gobierno.
El deber del liderazgo político nacional es, como el de la Policía, sacar esas basuras de sus filas o, de lo contrario, asumir el costo fatal de su autodestrucción o de la pérdida de representatividad y confianza de la población.
La democracia dominicana, construida a base de partidos fuertes y comprometidos con el estado de derecho, no puede exponerse más a estas flaquezas.
Y el Estado mismo, con todos sus poderes, tampoco puede permitir que sus soportes institucionales sean quebrados y desnaturalizados por el entronizamiento de prácticas corruptas, desconocedoras del correcto uso de los bienes públicos, o por la nociva influencia de agentes del crimen organizado en los poderes congresional, judicial y municipal.
Los partidos están obligados a esta irrenunciable catarsis.
Tienen que deshacerse de esas vacas, bueyes o perros sagrados que, por años, han asaltado los poderes de este país para lucrarse y envilecer, de paso, a nuestro sistema democrático.
Deben impedir y repudiar a los personajes sospechosos o cuestionados que financian sus actividades con dinero sucio y dejar de hacerse los desentendidos o inocentes frente a esta creciente penetración dañina que los desacredita y los debilita.

The parties are obliged to this unavoidable catharsis. They have to get rid of those sacred cows, oxen or dogs that, for years, have assaulted the powers of this country to profit and debase our democratic system.
They must prevent and repudiate suspicious or questioned characters who finance their activities with dirty money and stop playing the ignorant or innocent in the face of this growing harmful penetration that discredits and weakens them.
